Introduction: FORWARD is free ["NGS"] software designed to take a set of coordinates and an ["azimuth"] and distance from those coordinates tp a new point and provide the coordinates of the new point. This is mainly useful in finding an ["azimuth mark"] from a ["triangulation station"] or occasionally vice versa. In a triangulation station's ["datasheet"], the ["box score"] will usually have the azimuth and distance from the main station to the azimuth mark. Since the distance will generally be several hundred feet or farther, it is more practical to use a GPS receiver to get close to the azimuth mark's position. Use FORWARD to obtain the coordinates of the azimuth mark from the box score's data.

Usage Notes: Start FORWARD, pick option 1, enter the latitude, then the longitude of the starting point (station). Then enter the azimuth and distance to the end point. The program will give the coordinates of the end point.
